An Augustan accused of stabbing a man last summer pleaded guilty Thursday to aggravated assault.

Tyrone Kettles, 47, admitted in Richmond County Superior Court that he stabbed Calvin Gilmore on Cleveland Street on July 3. Gilmore, 50, was stabbed in his neck, according to an earlier report. Kettles was injured by a blow to his head during the attack.

Judge Michael N. Annis accepted a plea negotiation and sentenced Kettles to one year behind bars and nine years on probation. Kettles will get credit for the six months he has been in jail awaiting trial.
