ATHENS, Ga. -- Police might file charges against a 48-year-old dental office employee found Tuesday night sedated by nitrous oxide during closing hours at the clinic.

Police were called about 9:40 p.m. to the dental office in east Athens by a family member, who went to the clinic after the woman did not return home, according to the report. The family members looked through a window and saw the woman in a dental chair with the nitrous oxide mask on her face.

They told police they beat on the window until they were able to rouse the woman. When she came outside, a medical unit was called to see if she was OK.

The woman told police she went to the office about 6 p.m. to do some paperwork. She said she has no idea why she put on the mask that provides nitrous oxide, commonly called laughing gas.

The officer released the woman to her family, but later, when he researched the gas, he found it is listed as a dangerous drug, according to the report. The officer noted that charges likely will be filed, but didn’t specify what charges.

Party

If you're going to party with laughing gas, it's better to have someone with you.

It sure will kill you.

She is lucky to be alive.

Back in 1980's a pair of SHONEY's Employees on Gordon Hwy did the same thing and died. It also happened at a Cummings, GA Shoney's Location about the same year.

The Fed's & States passed a whole bunch of laws and purchasing NOX became hard. Now NOX for car racing if different from dental NOX.
They add sulfur dioxide which causes you to Up-Chunk, your guts out.

I'm not sure about now, but back in the early '70s when I worked for Bell's, we used nitrous oxide gas to "charge" our whipped cream cans. They were made out of stainless steel. I can attest to the fact that there was some "abuse" of those whipped cream containers... : - )

Charges

From the story:

The officer noted that charges likely will be filed, but didn’t specify what charges.

Don't worry. Just look in the law books long enough and you will find some law that she broke. Every single one of us is a criminal in some form or fashion. We have so many laws that it is impossible not to break some of them.

WE the people went from

WE the people went from unwritten laws, to Articles of Confederation, to Frankenstein. Ironically, we have made it to the point where we commonly write more laws to address the problems with the old ones. Good luck with that

Very true. Where in the h-e double hockey sticks has common sense gone? Some cops behave as if it is their DUTY to find something to charge you with, and in most cases they can through the "catch-all" laws.

I'm sure the embarrassment of being caught in that position is penalty enough; and if any charges are filed, it should be from the owner of the practice, not the cops digging for something to make her a criminal with.

My guess, and this is just a guess, was to inhale some of the gas!
