ASU basketball player arrested over gun

Augusta State University basketball team starting forward Harold Doby was arrested and charged with possession of a weapon in a school building Wednesday evening.

He was booked into the Richmond County jail about 10 p.m.

Georgia Regents University officials said the campus police report on the incident would not be available until Thursday morning.

The university did release a brief statement saying Doby has been suspended from the team indefinitely pending the investigation.

The institution will investigate the matter for violations to the university’s student code of conduct and will continue to work with law enforcement to resolve the matter, according to the statement.
