According to the sheriff’s office, it is the second case this year in which suspects were arrested after residents contacted Richmond County Sheriff Richard Roundtree with information on the crimes.
According to a news release, the suspect’s father contacted Roundtree at his home around 6:45 a.m. Monday and said his son wanted to surrender.
Ceon Tarrel Ulmer, 27, of Jenkins Street, was wanted in a shooting Wednesday at Augusta Manor Apartments.
Roundtree met Ulmer and his father in front of the sheriff’s office Monday, and Ulmer was taken into custody.
He has been booked into the Richmond County jail on charges including aggravated assault, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and possession of marijuana with intent to distribute.
Earlier this month, slaying suspect Deontre Alvez Hubert, 18, of Richmond Hill Road, was arrested after an tipster contacted Roundtree and provided a witness to a Jan. 1 homicide.
Edward Yancy, 21, was fatally wounded when shots were fired during an argument outside Club Fiesco, 2925 Peach Orchard Road. Police believe Yancy was an innocent bystander.
The witness gave information leading to another witness and Hubert’s arrest.
Hubert was booked into the Richmond County jail Jan. 4 on charges of murder and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.
