A Grovetown woman had parked her vehicle in the 800 block about 11:30 p.m. when a man demanded her money, Richmond County sheriff’s Lt. Calvin Chew said. The man hit her with a gun, then fled with her purse and a bookbag.
Witnesses told deputies that the man got away in a 2000 Ford Taurus driven by another man.
Public safety officers at Georgia Regents University spotted the car in the 1300 block of 12th Street and pulled it over.
The robber ran away, dropping the victim’s belongings as he fled.
The driver, Jose Antonio Ramos, 37, of Fox Trace, was booked into the Richmond County jail on charges of armed robbery, driving under the influence, no headlights, reckless driving and fleeing or attempting to elude officers.
