An Allendale County man was arrested by South Carolina Law Enforcement Division agents Saturday in connection with the stabbing death of another man, authorities said.

Augus Ritter, 60, of Buford’s Bridge Highway, Sycamore, S.C., was charged with manslaughter in the slaying of Jeffrey Darnell Thomas, 44, also of Sycamore. According to the warrant for his arrest, Ritter admitted in writing to stabbing the victim.

Ritter is being held at the Allendale County Detention Center without bond. He faces up to 30 years in prison, if convicted, a press release said.

Allendale County Coroner Marion Riley said Thomas was killed about 11:55 p.m. Saturday in Sycamore on Williams Road near the intersection of Buford’s Bridge Highway. He said further details would have to be supplied by the Allendale County Sheriff’s Office.
