An Evans man accused of kidnapping his ex-girlfriend at gunpoint was arrested Friday.
John Daryl Maynard, 42, of Cape Cod Drive, was arrested about midday in Richmond County and was charged with armed robbery, kidnapping and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, according to Columbia County sheriff’s Capt. Steve Morris.
Maynard’s 44-year-old ex-girlfriend said she returned to her Martinez home on Padrick Street after work about 1:50 a.m. Friday.
Maynard, who was hiding with a handgun inside a truck parked under the carport, forced her back into her Dodge Stratus, according to a Columbia County Sheriff’s Office report.
Maynard forced her to drive back to the Burger King restaurant that she manages in Richmond County and withdraw $1,750 from the safe, the report said.
He then ordered her to drive to the Georgia Bank & Trust branch on Columbia Road in Martinez, where she withdrew $360 while being held at gunpoint, according to the report.
Maynard returned the woman to her home and left in a Geo Prizm, according to the report. .
