Woman reports identify theft

An Augusta woman attempting to open a cell phone account Tuesday found someone else already had opened two different wireless accounts in her name with outstanding balances totaling $7,212, according to an incident report.

The woman, 20-year-old Amaris Meyers, also discovered her credit had been checked in 2011 but she hadn’t applied for credit, the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office report said.
