An Augusta man faces charges after being accused of holding his child’s mother at knife-point Sunday.

According to Richmond County sheriff’s Lt. Calvin Chew, Janine Henley, 30, of North Augusta, and her brother, Dominik Henley, 23, of Beech Island, were attacked after they went to the home of Henley’s child’s father on Dewitt Street.

Police said Janine Henley was arguing with Eddie Raymond Bennett, 42, when Bennett began choking her and put a knife to her throat. In his attempts to help his sister, Dominik Henley suffered cuts to his leg, police said.

Police said Bennett and Henley’s child witnessed the assault.

Bennett was booked into the Richmond County jail on charges of cruelty to children in the third degree and two counts of aggravated assault.

Too bad there is a child, stuck in the middle of this. The child did not ask for this, nor does he/she deserve this. Practice birth control until you grow up and are mature enough to be responsible.

Practicing birth control is

Practicing birth control is too late after the child is born. Blame the criminal;not the victim.

Typical behavior for the residents who find it acceptable to live in this area and the alike. The child has little hope of growing up to be any different. And this is why I do not oppose abortion. Just seems the wrong ones are getting them....in my opinion :)

Old enough to know better

Well said, I am very angry at these parents, they are both old enough to know better. Why have a child and bring them into such a hateful situation. So much "free" birth control around, why are you continuing to reproduce?
