Aiken police are searching for a man who broke into at least four homes Tuesday morning.

Aiken Public Safety Cpl. Jeremy Hembree said the man wore dark clothing and burglarized at least three homes before a owner in the fourth house discovered him inside.

Hembree said the intruder fled and did not display a weapon. However, police believe the burglar is armed after agun was reported missing from one of the homes burglarized. Police said all the homes were within four blocks of each other.

Hembree said the owner of the house in the 200 block of Lancaster Street who saw the burglar was not able to provide a description.
