An Augusta man indicted this week on charges of murder and weapon violations probably will be arraigned later this month.

A Richmond County grand jury named Ronnie Lee Berrian, 28, in an indictment returned Wednesday. Berrian has been in jail without bond since his arrest in the slaying of 66-year-old Russell Boyd.

Sheriff’s deputies found Boyd’s body at Berrian’s home in the 1100 block of Camille Street about 8:50 a.m. on Oct. 10. Boyd had been shot once in the chest.

Berrian has one prior felony conviction for theft. He completed the Richmond County Superior Court sentence for that case in November 2010.
