Richmond County sheriff’s Sgt. Bill Leisey said Daniel Broome, 23, left Cuz’s Place, 1979 Tobacco Road, early Saturday to avoid the fight. However, Charles Ralston Smith Jr., 31, of Hephzibah, chased after Broome in a Chevrolet Silverado and hit him, according to authorities.
Police said they are unsure if Broome was run over or just struck by the truck. Smith was booked into the Richmond County Jail on charges of aggravated assault.
Shane Andrews, 23, of Augusta, was charged with affray. Police said Andrews was involved in the fight at the bar but was not involved in the aggravated assault.
