Robber steals fare for bus ticket

  • Follow Crime & courts

A robber snatched an Augusta man’s $200 bus fare from the counter at a bus station around 3 p.m. Sunday, according to an incident report.

John W. O’Bryant was trying to buy a ticket to Detroit at Southeastern Stages, 1128 Greene St., when the man, wearing a black hoodie and tan pants, grabbed the cash and fled. He was last seen running east on Telfair Street, a Richmond County sheriff’s report said.

A security camera was inoperable, and the bus company provided O’Bryant a replacement bus ticket, the report said.

to provide a ticket ... but wonder if they might be fund negligent for not providing adequate security for its passengers?

Once the money was laid on

Once the money was laid on the counter, it belonged to Southeastern Stages. Please, just don't interview those in the station waiting on a bus.

honestly was surprised to read the bus station replaced his ticket. Good Customer Service. Bus tickets these days are 90% of the time more expensive than plane tickets to the same destinations. Been that way for at least 4 years. Don't know why for sure, but could think of a few reasons.
