Glynn County Police Chief Matt Doering wouldn’t say what he asked the team to look for nor would he say what other divers had found — except that none of it was related to Sublett’s death.
Sublett drowned but had been shot in the head. His hands were tied in front of him.
Suicide has not been ruled out.
Meanwhile, the reward for information in this case has doubled to $50,000.
The County Commission voted last week to match the police’s original $25,000 reward.
Sublett’s car was found Dec. 11 and a friend of Sublett’s found his body about two hours later barely floating between a boat and dock at the St. Simons Boating & Fishing Club.
Sublett had left a regular Monday night card game before 11 p.m., and his wife reported him missing after midnight.
The GBI crime lab, where an autopsy was done, still has not determined whether Sublett’s death was a homicide, suicide or accident. Police said they are still investigating it as a homicide.
