Augusta man gets prison term for home invasion

An Augusta man accused of breaking into a Third Street home and robbing three people at gunpoint was sentenced to 10 years in prison Monday.

Kerry Hamilton, 25, pleaded guilty in Richmond County Superior Court to charges filed in the Dec. 6, 2011, home invasion. In addition to taking cell phones from two of the victims, Hamilton took off with the TV belonging to the man who lived in the house.

After Hamilton completes the prison sentence, he will serve seven years on probation.
