A 34-year-old Salley, S.C., man has been jailed on drug charges after investigators discovered a methamphetamine operation on his property, authorities said.

The Aiken County Sheriff’s Office began investigating 267 Railroad Ave. after receiving tips on suspicious activity.

According to a police incident report, an informant told deputies he became suspicious when a path near the building was suddenly heavy with traffic after a long period of inactivity.

Deputies stopped Robert Dusty Widener, 34, who lives at the residence, shortly after leaving it Saturday and discovered methamphetamine in his possession, the report stated.

After receiving consent to search the property, deputies discovered several items related to methamphetamine manufacturing along with 1 gram of a substance that tested positive for meth.

Widener was charged with manufacturing methamphetamine, possession of marijuana, disposal of methamphetamine waste, distribution of methamphetamine, possession of a controlled substance and driving under suspension.
