The Georgia Bureau of Investigation and the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office are investigating a homicide in Lincolnton, Ga., on Saturday.

About 3 p.m., police were called to the 4000 block of Georgia Highway 220 East and found 75-year-old Hamp Turner in his home, GBI Special Agent in Charge Mike Ayers said.

Ayers would not comment on the weapon used or manner of the slaying, or whether police had suspects. He said Turner’s autopsy would be held in the next three days.

What a terrible, sad situation - condolences to his grieving family - and may God let this poor man rest in peace and give his loved ones the strength to carry on during this holiday season.
