“It was not random,” said Sgt. Jason Vinson, of the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office.
Autopsy results Thursday revealed that the victim, 48-year-old Michael T. Wickert, died of blunt and sharp force injuries.
Leslie Blair, 41, and Joseph Leon Guerrero, 33, were arrested late Wednesday night.
They are charged with murder, possession of a knife during the commission of a crime and theft of a motor vehicle.
Officers searched the woods near the crime scene around Keron Way in Hephzibah throughout Wednesday night and continued the search for the victim’s white 1987 Chevrolet Camaro Z-28 after daylight, the sergeant said.
Blair and Leon Guerrero have given statements, but Vinson said the sheriff’s office is not yet releasing details nor a possible motive for Wickert’s slaying.
Detectives are still deep into the investigation, and charges against other people are possible, Vinson said.
Drugs charges are pending against Blair in Columbia County, according to court records. She was arrested on charges of possessing methamphetamine and other narcotics March 6,
