Copper wire stolen from business, recovered

  • Follow Crime & courts

More than $11,000 in copper wire was stolen from TAW Augusta Service Center on Goshen Industrial Boulevard on Sunday or Monday.

Someone cut the chain link fence behind the business, but authorities found a green hat and a camouflage hat nearby, according to a Richmond County sheriff’s report.

The 42 pounds of wire were recovered, but the report did not indicate where or how.

$262 a pound

No wonder people are stealing copper. What business would pay $11000 for 42 pounds of copper?

Likely $110 dollars for 42 pounds. or $11000 for 4200 lbs.

Maybe $11,000 usable wire which weighed 42 lbs

and $262/pound for scrap in the form sold to recycle.
