Authorities are investigating a fight Friday morning outside a Broad Street nightclub that sent several people to a hospital with lacerations.
Police believe a group of people was thrown out of Club Rehab, 913 Broad St., around 2 a.m. after an argument escalated inside.
On the street, one man pulled a knife and began swinging, Richmond County sheriff’s Lt. Blaise Dresser said.
When police arrived, they found four people – including the suspect – with lacerations. Two of the victims told police they were innocent bystanders and didn’t realize they had been cut until later. Investigators described the injuries as “substantial, but not life threatening.”
Investigators said the incident is complicated by the differing accounts of witnesses.
“We need more answers,” Dresser said.
No charges have been filed. Dresser said if the suspect is charged, he could face multiple counts of aggravated assault.
Dresser said it is unclear if the stabbing was in self defense.
“That will be up to the district attorney to decide,” he said.
