A grand jury indicted Lucky Wade Jackson, 38, on charges of first-degree vehicular homicide, disregarding a traffic control device and failing to wear a seat belt, according to court documents released Friday.

Jackson, of Buxton Lane in Evans, was intoxicated when his truck hit and killed Jordan Elizabeth White, 19, on Sept. 12, authorities said. His blood-alcohol concentration was 0.281, according to tests performed by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.

Jackson was driving his Ford pickup west on Washington Road shortly before midnight when he ran the red light at Ronald Reagan Drive and slammed into the driver’s side of the 2001 Honda Accord driven by White, who was turning left to head east on Washington Road, according to a Columbia County Sheriff’s Office accident report.

White’s vehicle, with two other passengers inside, slid onto the lawn in front of Regions Bank, while Jackson’s pickup traveled across an oncoming lane and hit an eastbound tractor-trailer waiting at the red light, according to the report.

White was airlifted to Medical College of Georgia Hospital, where she later died. Her two passengers were treated.

Jackson was released from the Columbia County Detention Center after posting a $13,400 bond, according to jail records.

The grand jury also indicted Alfonso Nelle-Lopez, 28, for first-degree vehicular homicide in the death of Alejandro Reyes-Romero, 35, of Evans. He also was charged with weaving over the road, driving without a license and having an open container, according to court documents.

At about 7:15 p.m. Sept. 10, Nelle-Lopez drove a Ford Expedition east on Columbia Road. Nelle-Lopez, of Hereford Farm Road in Evans, lost control of the vehicle near Wortham Lane and High Meadows Drive and went off the road. As he tried to regain control, the SUV skidded across oncoming lanes and onto the opposite shoulder, according to a sheriff’s office accident report.

The SUV rolled over, throwing Reyes-Romero from the vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Nelle-Lopez sustained minor injuries and is being held in the jail on a $14,500 bond, according to jail records.

Boy they had to struggle to present those "true bills"

But judgement is a ways off. Lucky is still breathing and can defend himself. We would posture that he continues to imbibe and drive. That Lucky views this an unfortunate accident for which he will forever be remorseful. Ms White cannot defend or speak for herself. Ms. White cannot amend her financial status. CC is an anomaly. A family dictatorship controlled by Old Democrats dressed as New Republicans. Nelle is toast. Lucky, well, we will have to see.

No sympathy for the accused.

No sympathy for the accused. Anyone driving with a bac that high has not made "a mistake", they have deliberately and with forethought placed the motoring public in jeopardy by choosing to drive.
