Shooting reported in Jackson, S.C.

A Jackson, S.C., Middle School was on lock down for a few hours Monday afternoon while police looked for a gunman after a shooting on the 400 block of 5th Street, Aiken County Sheriff’s Capt. Troy Elwell said.



An unidentified man was shot in the right, upper part of his chest not far from the school. Elwell said he was talking to investigators on his way to the Medical College of Georgia Hospital.

The Aiken County Sheriff’s bloodhounds searched the surrounding area for a black man with short dreads. Jackson Police are heading up the investigation, Elwell said.
