James McGuyton, 45, of the 1100 block of Boneville Road, was arrested Thursday and charged with murder in connection with the death of Ken Seek Jr., 33, of Boneville Circle, said Georgia Bureau of Investigation’s Special Agent in Charge Mike Ayers.
McDuffie County Coroner Rusha Mack said Friday that the victim, whose body was found Thanksgiving Day, appeared to have at least one gunshot wound. The body will be sent to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation crime lab in Atlanta for an autopsy.
On Thursday, McDuffie County sheriff’s deputies had a remote stretch of Marshall Church Road blocked off for hours.
A Georgia Bureau of Investigation crime scene specialist, deputies and the coroner were seen in a wooded area that runs parallel to Interstate 20. After more than an hour, a late model Chevrolet truck was pulled from the woods.
Sheriff Logan Marshall reported that there was a homicide, but no other details were released.
