THOMSON — A man is in jail in connection with a shooting death in McDuffie County.

James McGuyton, 45, of the 1100 block of Boneville Road, was arrested Thursday and charged with murder in connection with the death of Ken Seek Jr., 33, of Boneville Circle, said Georgia Bureau of Investigation’s Special Agent in Charge Mike Ayers.

McDuffie County Coroner Rusha Mack said Friday that the victim, whose body was found Thanksgiving Day, appeared to have at least one gunshot wound. The body will be sent to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation crime lab in Atlanta for an autopsy.

On Thursday, McDuffie County sheriff’s deputies had a remote stretch of Marshall Church Road blocked off for hours.

A Georgia Bureau of Investigation crime scene specialist, deputies and the coroner were seen in a wooded area that runs parallel to Interstate 20. After more than an hour, a late model Chevrolet truck was pulled from the woods.

Sheriff Logan Marshall reported that there was a homicide, but no other details were released.

Thanksgiving will never, ever be the same for this family. I have been plenty angry at people in my life, but have a difficult time grasping the level of anger to motivate one to murder. Such a final act, obviously for the victim, but even moreso for the perp. And families on both sides suffer forever and ever.

What is wrong with people that they do such? I just don't understand how our society has stooped to such a level of degradation that we read, daily, of such acts of violence.

And don't get me wrong, murder and killing in the defence of life and limb are separate discussions.

Pure and simple. If we are not responsible for out action to Almighty God, then anything goes and does in our society. Do no murder means nothing. Our constitution declares that it is justified in cases of inconvenience. Hey you inconvenienced me, Bang Bang.
