Police are asking for help identifying a man who tricked a cashier into giving him $99 on Oct. 31.

According to a police report, a man approached a 56-year-old employee at Check Exchange, 3215 Wrightsboro Road, and asked her to exchange his small denomination bills for larger ones.

Police said the man convinced her that she had accidentally handed him a $1 bill instead of the $100 bill she should have given him. The cashier took back the dollar and handed him a $100 bill.

Later, the cashier’s drawer came up $99 short.

Police said surveillance video shows the man sticking the $100 bill into his pocket before claiming the mistake.

The man was traveling in a white Toyota Camry.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office at (706) 821-1020.
