The owner of Leo’s Produce is expected to face arraignment this month on charges of theft by receiving.
Leo Charette was indicted on six counts of theft related to stolen property that Richmond County sheriff’s investigators reportedly found at his 15th Street warehouse in 2010.

According to an indictment returned by the grand jury last month, Charette had in his possession on Oct. 6, 2010: an E-Z-Go golf cart, a 1985 GMC Sierra truck, a Polaris trailer, a 2005 Jet Ski, a 2002 Yamaha ATV and a John Deere mower that was owned, in part, by Liberty Baptist Church.

Until his arrest, Charette’s company regularly supplied produce for the Richmond County jail and the Columbia County school board. In 2011, according to state records, Leo’s Produce was paid more than $430,000 to supply produce to the Richmond County Board of Education.

Charette, 47, who lives in Evans, is free on bond.

Also named in the indictment were Larry Lavert Germany, 47, of Hephzibah, Derrick Anthony Williams, 36, of Hephzibah, and Bradley Cole Rollins, 50, of Evans.

My thoughts exactly! I read

My thoughts exactly! I read the paper daily and watch the news twice a day and I recall no news of this incident. A half mill for lettuce c'mon! Greed will always float you right up the river to spend quality time with yourself and hundreds of others just like you. It's always just a matter of time before your own greedy, thieving nature takes you down for what you are. If I read correctly the report said he had in his possession on Oct 6th 2010 the items listed above. That's 2 years ago!
