“We’re still investigating at this point,” said Richmond County sheriff’s Lt. Blaise Dresser.
Around 1:15 a.m. Thursday, investigators were called to a home in the 1400 block of Dewitt Street, where they discovered Samuel Hackett with a stab wound to the torso. Hackett was taken to Medical College of Georgia Hospital, where he died shortly before 2 a.m.
Dresser said Hackett had received a ride from downtown to his Dewitt Street home.
The driver of the dark Chrysler PT Cruiser was described as a 25- to 30-year-old man, around 5-foot-7 to 5-foot-9, with an athletic build and a short haircut.
No motive has been released.
This is Richmond County’s 25th homicide this year.
