Person, business robbed in Aiken; same man suspected in both

The Aiken Department of Public Safety was searching for a man in the robbery of a person and business Monday night.

A person was robbed about 9:30 p.m. in the 2500 block of Whiskey Road by a man who was armed with what appeared to be an assault rifle, according to a statement from the department.

Later, the Subway in the 700 block of Silver Bluff Road was robbed by a heavy-set white man with an assault rifle. He took money from the restaurant and fled in a light blue sedan. Property belonging to the first victim was found outside the restaurant.

Late Monday, bloodhounds were being used in the hunt for the suspects.
