An Augusta man was repeatedly shot with a stun gun Sunday morning during a shoplifting attempt at a south Augusta Walmart.

According to an incident report, a deputy working special duty at the Deans Bridge Road store stopped Wallace Hamilton Johnson, 19, around 1 a.m. after anti-theft sensors activated as he left the store.

Police said Johnson denied having any merchandise and voluntarily pulled out his pockets. The deputy then noticed a large, square bulge near Johnson’s ankles and discovered a 32-GB memory card tucked into his pants.

The deputy told Johnson he was under arrest and was trying to handcuff him when Johnson tried to flee and ignored commands to stop. The deputy took Johnson to the floor.

A Georgia State trooper who was in the store and heard the commotion ran to the scene and warned Johnson he would use a stun gun if he continued to resist.

After the trooper used the stun gun, the report said, Johnson got up and ran outside before falling onto a Toyota Corolla, causing a dent and scratches to a fender.

The officer and trooper chased Johnson into the parking lot where the trooper had to use the stun gun “several times for him to be handcuffed.”

Johnson was booked into the Richmond County jail on charges of theft by shoplifting and obstruction of an officer.

This guy must be missing a few neurons in his nervous system. How many times did they have to zap him before they got him under control? Normally just one shot from a taser will make most folks play nice. Maybe the metal plate in his head took all the current.

I wish one of the side

I wish one of the side effects of getting tazed was sterilization and/or impotence. Sure would help clean up the gene pool.

Battle of the Bulge

Does a bulge get larger or smaller when electricity is applied?

I would love to talk to the State Trooper. I bet he feels so lucky to be in the right place at the right time.

Um....is that your wallet in your sock, or are you happy to see me?

The things people will steal a 32 gb memory stick. WTH did this guy need this for a homework assignment or maybe to backup his important files on his computer.

The sad part of that story

The sad part of that story was "Johnson got up and ran outside before falling onto a Toyota Corolla, causing a dent and scratches to a fender"...now somebody has to get their car repaired because of this looser!

Well done officers and I hope they throw the book at him!

Gotta love these "teaser" articles
Unpublished

They give you enough info to start a conversation with but not enough to know the whole story. Was the off-duty trooper in uniform? Did he identify himself as an officer? Did the shoplifter resist arrest after the first warning from the trooper or did the trooper warn first, zap second?
Gotta tell you, shoplifter or not, if a stranger runs up to me and threatens to zap me and the police officer does nothing to protect me, I'm going to fight like heck as long as I have a breath.

Funny part is JRC2024 he

Funny part is JRC2024 he won't pay a fine and he cannot survive on the terms of his probation, he just can't conform to the paper work. What to do with the petty thief, the dead beat dads, the probation violators, the I only had enough of that dope for myself, I wasn't trafficking the stuff etc...! It goes 'round and 'round with no solutions for an already crowded jail system.

Just Maybe

Maybe he's been shot with a stun gun so many times that he's immune to it now.
