Arrest in Kroger lot purse snatching

A 30-year-old Augusta man remains in jail after police said he snatched a woman’s purse Saturday evening in the parking lot of Kroger, 501 15th St.

According to an incident report, Brenda Sue Chasteen, 58, of Augusta, was putting her purchases in her vehicle about 11:30 p.m. when a man in a dark gray hoodie grabbed a purse from her hands. Her hands were cut, and her grocery cart was overturned.

A deputy near Watkins Street and Bohler Avenue spotted a man matching the description throw a gray hoodie and other items into the woods.

The man, identified as Anthony Darrell Gonder, was arrested on charges of theft by receiving stolen property and robbery by sudden snatch.

The victim’s purse was recovered.

Same thing...

My sister had her purse snatched at a Krogers on Washington Rd.....she followed him....(got info)
This seems to be a tactic of late....so be careful folks....
