Man shot in leg drives himself to emergency room

Police are looking into a shooting on Picquet Avenue early Friday.



At 5 a.m., Richmond County deputies were called to the 1100 block of 15th Street and found 53-year-old Robert Darrell Ballard with a gunshot wound to the leg, according to an incident report.

An investigation revealed that Ballard was shot on Picquet Avenue and drove himself to Medical College of Georgia Hospital, the report said.

A motive or description of the suspect was not apparent Friday.

At least he was close to the hospital. I wonder where he parked. If he had to negotiate that patient parking deck, it might have been better if he limped to the hospital.
