Women, child recovering from wreck

Two women who were injured in a Saturday afternoon wreck are recovering at the Medical College of Georgia Hospital, a spokeswoman said.

Sheila Avery, the driver of a PT Cruiser that was struck on Deans Bridge Road by an SUV, was listed in fair condition Sunday night. Her passenger, Diane Gaines, was in good condition.

According to Richmond County sheriff’s Lt. Robbie Silas, Avery was traveling south in the 4900 block of Deans Bridge Road when she slowed to pull into a driveway. She was hit from behind by a Chevrolet Tahoe SUV driven by Anthony Arrington, who was not seriously injured.

Arrington’s 7-year-old daughter was in the backseat. She was taken to the Medical College of Georgia Hospital, where she received stitches to her head, and was released.

Arrington was cited for following too closely, Silas said.
