Richmond County sheriff’s deputies said they were called about 8:50 a.m. to the 1100 block of Camille Street, where they discovered the body of Russell Boyd, 66, dead from a gunshot wound.

Sheriff’s Sgt. Bill Leisey said the shooting occurred after an argument at the home of Ronnie Lee Berrian. Witnesses told investigators they saw Berrian chasing Boyd before shooting him, then driving away in a gray 1992 Cadillac DeVille. Berrian was captured within several hours and was charged with murder and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.

Lt. Blaise Dresser called the shooting “senseless” but would not discuss a motive.

The victim’s sister, Samantha Boyd, said she was at work when she got the news of his death.

She said she did not know why her brother, who lived on Old Savannah Road, was on Camille Street, but she doubted that the older man would have started trouble.

Boyd, his sister said, was well-known in the area, owned a beauty salon in Wrens, Ga., and often cut grass on the side. She speculated that he might have been in the area cutting grass or collecting money for past jobs.

“He was a hard worker, and he loved life,” she said.

Boyd is survived by his wife and a son who lives in Detroit.

An autopsy is scheduled at the GBI Crime Lab in Augusta.

From the Augusta Chronicle,

From the Augusta Chronicle, July 8, 2007
June 26
Ronnie Antonio Berrian , 17, three counts of armed robbery, possession of weapon during violent crime.

And this is why I don't believe in second chances for every thug that wants one. Someone ended up losing his life. This person should have stayed in jail for his previous violent crimes. The so-called punishments handed out these days is a joke. You can't rehabilitate everyone.

Patty-P, although I'm sure

Patty-P, although I'm sure this is not Berrian's first run in with the law either. I don't think he was 17 in 2007 and now 5 years later he is 28. If you check the name you are referring to in your post to the name in the report, that doesn't even match either.
