Maintenance man charged in Augusta apartment burglary

An apartment maintenance man was arrested Sunday after he was caught leaving an apartment with two stolen computers, police said.

According to Richmond County sheriff’s Sgt. Dan Carrier, Jason Lee Schleifer, 33, was caught coming out an an Arborside apartment on Napa Drive around 5:30 p.m. carrying the computers. Schleifer was booked into the Richmond County jail on burglary charges.

Sgt. Paul Godden said investigators are analyzing previous burglary reports from the area to see whether they could be connected to the suspect.
