According to authorities, Kevin Harrell, of the criminal investigation unit, was walking his dog with his wife around 8:30 p.m. in Village Run when Harrell got into an argument with a neighbor. During the altercation, he was stabbed in the chest and back. He was taken to Medical College of Georgia Hospital.
Sheriff’s Capt. Scott Gay said Harrell’s wounds did not appear life-threatening.
Columbia County sheriff’s deputies and Harlem police were investigating, and had a suspect in the Columbia County Detention Center. The suspect’s name had not been released early Tuesday.
Harrell was hired by the department in 2008, and was promoted from road patrol this year, according to Chronicle database records.
