Aiken County sheriff’s investigators were searching for two men who broke into an 80-year-old Graniteville woman’s home and stole her money early Thursday.

According to an incident report, the woman was in the bedroom of her Gregg Street home about 12:30 a.m. when she heard a noise and saw two white men with covered faces charging toward her.

She told police that one man grabbed her wrist and yelled “Give us the money, old lady.” The men were also asking about a 26-year-old woman who was a former tenant at the home.

The men fled with an undisclosed amount of cash and a cell phone.

Police arrived to find the woman’s wrists “badly bruised and bleeding.”

Deputies found no signs of forced entry other than a rip in a screen door.

The woman told investigators she had misplaced her keys Wednesday and might have left them hanging in the door, allowing the burglars entry.

Anyone with information can call the Aiken County Sheriff’s Office at (800) 922-9709.
