ANDERSON, S.C. — Anderson County sheriff’s deputies are investigating the shooting death of a man following a home invasion.

Deputies were called to the home near Lake Hartwell around 10:15 p.m. Saturday.

Deputy Coroner Charlie Boseman says 28-year-old Michael Jones died at the scene. Deputies found him in the living room of the home.

Jones lived in a duplex with his 28-year-old girlfriend and two children. Sheriff’s spokesman Chad McBride says the woman and children were asleep and were not hurt.

No arrests have been made. McBride says deputies are trying to identify a suspect and determine the motive.

Boseman says an autopsy is scheduled Monday.
