According to an incident report, Tobias Veal’s ex-girlfriend came to his 15th Street dorm room around 2 p.m. Saturday to confront him about a relationship with another woman when Veal pulled out a 9 mm Smith and Wesson handgun.
Veal, 22, originally told deputies the woman pulled a handgun on him before he grabbed his gun. Investigators said Veal later retracted the statement.
After the victim advised the resident adviser of the situation, the advisor approached Veal who refused to open his dorm room door. Police said Veal willingly handed over the weapon after the resident adviser gained entry to the room with a master key.
Veal was booked into the Richmond County Jail on charges of having a weapons in a school building.
