A 40-day investigation in Waynesboro, Ga., ended Thursday with police arresting 12 people on charges of illegal drug sales.

Operation Clean Sweep, which targeted more than 20 suspects, was conducted by Waynesboro Public Safety officers who worked undercover buying drugs from dealers.

The suspects sold drugs that included marijuana, crack cocaine and oxycodone to the officers one or more times, police said.

“This was a sizeable undertaking for a police department of our size,” Chief Alfonzo Williams said in a news release.

Officers took to the streets at 5 a.m. Thursday to serve warrants on the 19 suspects who live within the department’s jurisdiction.

By late afternoon Thursday, Williams said 12 had been found and charged.

Surrounding agencies will assist in the arrest of the four suspects who live outside the city.

Williams said several suspects have been arrested on drug charges or convicted of drug offenses in the past, and a few are on probation or parole.

The usual suspects at the known drug houses?

Is there an election pending in Waynesboro GA? Or just a need to show a presence? This operation would succeed each and every day.

Only 12?

Really! As drug-ridden as Waynesboro is, you could only net 12?

Back in the 1740's

it was snuff in the nose holes. Alcohol has always been the choice of society. Nicotine, rabbit tobacco, dried Catawba beans, glue, nail polish remover, gasoline, spray paint, turpentine and various solvents are a few we remember from the recent 40's and 50's.

You can't put a model car together without an I.D. and a federal permit. LOL
