The Georgia Bureau of Investigation was called in to investigate the beating death of Jade Holder, 19.
Another youth, identified as Michael Jarod Everidge, 17, was charged with murder in the case.
The day of Holder’s death, the Augusta facility fired its first employee, guard Marlon McCreary Sr., whom investigators said failed to lock the doors to the residents’ rooms.
By January Commissioner Gale Buckner had announced the facility’s ninth employee termination since the investigation began.
Reasons for employee sanctions ranged from providing contraband to physical fights with the youths and sexual misconduct.
