JONESBORO, Ga. — Authorities say a Jonesboro man has turned himself in to face charges in the fatal shooting of a Georgia state representative’s nephew.

Clayton County jail records show that Divonte J. Lester was taken into custody around 9 p.m. Monday. He faces charges of involuntary manslaughter, reckless conduct and tampering with evidence.

Authorities say 20-year-old Quinn Keevon Heckstall was shot Saturday night while visiting his girlfriend at an apartment complex in Jonesboro. Democratic Rep. Joe Heckstall of East Point said his nephew was taken to Southern Regional Hospital in Riverdale, where he was pronounced dead.

Few details surrounding the shooting have been released.

It is typical of the news media to emphasize the fact that this poor soul was the nephew of a state representative. It doesn't really matter, does it? Every victim is SOMEONE'S son/husband/father/nephew.
