Julie Bowen, 53, of Augusta, was driving a Toyota SUV north in the 3900 block of Mike Padgett Highway when she drifted into the southbound lane, hitting a black Jeep Cherokee, Richmond County sheriff’s Deputy Alan Alspaugh said.

Bowen was charged with driving under the influence and driving on the wrong side of the road, Alspaugh said. She was not seriously injured and refused medical treatment.

The driver of the Jeep, Gary Bodie, of Augusta, was taken to University Hospital with injuries that were not considered life-threatening, Alspaugh said.

The wreck happened about 4:30 p.m. Traffic on Mike Padgett Highway was slowed for about an hour.

IDIOT

Here we go again...Another drunk.....Is she locked up for counseling?
Or is she free to hit someone else. Will she kill them this time around. This guy was simply driving never expecting that he could have lost his life thanks to this IDIOT. No penalty......Driving drunk is a CRIMINAL act and decision. If you don't lock her up...maybe you will be next.

You could give people the death penalty for driving drunk and people would still do it as much as they do now.
