Grovetown man charged in Walmart gropings

Walden

Columbia County authorities on Monday arrested a Grovetown man accused of groping three women at Walmart last weekend.

Javantroi Perez Walden, 33, was charged with three counts of misdemeanor sexual battery.

The women reported being fondled Saturday morning at two Columbia County Walmarts, according to sheriff’s office reports.

A 57-year-old woman told deputies that about 6:45 a.m., a man in a dark, long-sleeved shirt and dark pants grabbed her breast at the Evans Walmart and then ran out of the store.

The assault was captured on surveillance video. The man left in a dark Buick.

Two women, ages 26 and 39, shopping at the Martinez Walmart on Bobby Jones Expressway said a man matching the description grabbed their breasts less than an hour later. One of the women said the man left in a dark Buick.

Walden was also charged with fleeing or attempting to elude a police officer, open alcohol container and two traffic violations. He is being held at the Columbia County Detention Center with bond set at $19,700.

This is the second time Walden has been charged with sexual battery since July.

He was arrested July 3 after being accused of grabbing the breasts of a 21-year-old woman at the Martinez Walmart and a 17-year-old server at the Martinez Sonic on Belair Road, according to incident reports.

At that time, Walden was unable to give a reason for his actions.
