Columbia County authorities are looking for a man caught on camera breaking into the Sprint convenience store at 3701 Washington Road, Martinez, shortly after 1 a.m. Saturday.

The alarm at Sprint Foods at 3701 Washington Road went off about 1:15 a.m. The front glass door was broken, but deputies didn’t find anyone inside, according to a Columbia County Sheriff’s Office incident report.

The store supervisor reviewed video surveillance footage, which showed a man in a yellow collared shirt and khaki pants throw a rock through the glass door. The video shows the man walk around the cashiers desk, put about 40 packs of Newport cigarettes in a plastic bag and leave through the broken door, according to the report.

Anyone with information about the man’s identity or whereabouts should call the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office at (706) 541-2800.

Glazier Fallacy

I suppose some liberal will bring up the "broken window fallacy" again. That's the liberal belief that destruction and mayhem (i.e. the broken glass door) expand the economy by creating jobs (i.e. a glazier will have to repair the glass door). The fallacy has been debunked over and over, yet it persists in the minds of liberals.

What is Not Seen

Here, Palmetto, is an early analysis of the broken window fallacy, from Frederik Bastiat:

Sorry, little lamb. Although you clearly said broken windows fallacy, I was thinking broken windows theory ala James Q Wilson. I was in the 20th century thinking specifically criminal behavior while you were in the 19th century.

Stealing cigarettes. Look on the bright side. Maybe he'll get lung cancer.
Oh wait, we taxpayers would have to pay for his treatment!
