2 in Richmond County jail on child cruelty charges

Two people were jailed Friday on child cruelty charges after Richmond County sheriff’s deputies investigated suspicions that a 4-year-old child was being abused.

According to a news release, deputies went to a residence in the 200 block of Buckhead Court after someone called Warren Road Elementary School and reported that the child, who had been absent from school for several days, was being abused.

They found the injured child in the home’s attic. He was taken to Medical College of Georgia Hospital for treatment.

Aileen Satoafaiga, 45, and Preston Kelly, 19, were arrested and taken to the Richmond County jail, police said.
