Big Lots roof leak reveals burglary effort

A leaky roof at Big Lots led employees to discover Tuesday that someone was cutting a hole into the business at 3232 Wrightsboro Road.

Employees told a Richmond County sheriff’s deputy that they climbed on top of the store to investigate the source of the leak and discovered a square hole. The deputy said there was a pile of cinder blocks by the air conditioning unit, along with footprints.

There was no evidence that someone had come through the hole, and the case was turned over to an investigator.
