Man in jail, another in hospital after Aiken shooting

Thomas Foreman II, 27, of Aiken, is being charged with attempted murder in connection with a shooting Monday night in Aiken.

An Aiken man is in jail on an attempted murder charge and another man is in the hospital after a shooting Monday night in Aiken, authorities said.

A little after 11 p.m., shots were reported in the 200 block of Cherokee Street Southeast. When Aiken Public Safety officers arrived, they found Derrick Williams, 33, of Allendale S.C., in the front yard with a gunshot wound.

Williams was taken to Medical College of Georgia Hospital. Cpl. Jeremy Hembree said that he did not know Williams’ condition but that officers had administered CPR at the scene.

Investigators arrested Thomas Foreman II, 27, of Aiken, at the scene and charged him with attempted murder. He is in the Aiken County Detention Center.
