An Augusta man has been jailed after he shot at a car with his children inside after arguing with their mother at River Glen Apartments, police said.

According to a police report, the 25-year-old mother was at the complex on East Boundary around 11 p.m. Thursday picking up her three children, ages 4 to 8, from their father, Durell Lewis, 26, of Wise Road, when they argued.

The woman told deputies she loaded the children into her current boyfriend’s vehicle and was leaving the apartment complex when she heard three shots.

One of the shots struck the driver’s door of the vehicle. Another struck an apartment window.

Lewis has been booked into the Richmond County jail on charges of possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and three counts of aggravated assault.

Hey big man

how about letting me take shots at you sitting in a car. But note, I qualified expert with both rifle and pistol while in the Army.

And please note how well the laws he broke protected his kids. Yep, we need more laws for common thugs to ignore.

He is the poster boy for the kinds of idiots I would like to see face long jail time for the gun violation alone, plus whatever he gets for the other crimes.

I hope he rot's in jail!

If you have no respect for the life of your children. You deserve to be in jail until you rot!

This man is a fool

This man is a fool to fire a gun at a vehicle containing his children. Dig a hole under the jail and throw him in. No amount of gun laws can protect us from idiots like this.

Caring father!!!

He qualifies as a donor not a father. No parent would ever fire a gun in the direction of their child. Hopefully the mother will do better on finding a step father!!!
