An Augusta man accused in the fatal shooting of another on Forsythe Street almost two years ago has pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter.

Brett Palmer, 40, was initially charged with murder in the Aug. 30, 2010, death of Tremell Walker, 27. He pleaded guilty July 12 in Richmond County Superior Court to manslaughter and a weapon violation. Judge Sheryl B. Jolly sentenced him to serve 25 years in prison.

At the time of his arrest, police said they thought the shooting developed after a longstanding feud.
