2 cartons? That's probably

2 cartons? That's probably valued at $500 with the price if cigarettes today.

I'll never understand why

I'll never understand why authorities have so much trouble catching thieves with such high-quality cameras installed in today's stores.

I don't know about everyone else, but I for one can't wait to see how good the technology gets by the time we reach the year 2006!

@HighSociety: I haven't been

@HighSociety: I haven't been a smoker for a while now so I'm sure prices have gone up since I last bought cigarettes, but 2 cartons is closer to about $100.

@PhiloPublius: The only benefit of high quality cameras is that the quality is better. These camera's don't give them a name, fingerprints, license plate number (unless they had a camera in the parking lot), or anything else. They don't know where to find him or where to start looking. All they have is an image. This is better than nothing for sure, though, because since the image is high quality, it can be passed around (such as on this page), and if anybody knows or recognizes him, they can contact authorities.

Facial recognition

Facial recognition software/technology is getting better and better. It does't help of course when they are covered; but if someone comes in with the face covered.....
