Augusta man charged with armed robbery, firing at deputy in Waffle House incident

Richmond County investigators have captured a man suspected of robbing a Waffle House last month and firing at a pursuing deputy.

According to a police statement, Joaquin Hogan, of the 2300 block of Amsterdam Drive, was wanted in connection with the June 14 holdup at the Waffle House in the 2000 block of Gordon Highway.

Immediately after the robbery, a deputy who chased the suspected vehicle into the Raes Creek Trailer Park on Sibley Road was shot at.

Hogan is being booked into the Richmond County jail on charges of armed robbery and possession of a firearm during commission of a crime, aggravated assault on a police officer, and possession of a firearm by a first offender probationer.

Pity

...the deputy didn't shoot back; say, a warning shot to the back of the head. He's on probation and back to his profession already; gotta love our tough on crime courts.
